Sasol is an energy/chemical company based out of South Africa. They have a variety of divisions: Oil, Synfuels, Solvents, Mining, and a few others. They have also opened a retail gas chain in South Africa and are now the #1 or 2 player in the S.A. market. They are attempting to sell their olefactants business. While they do compete in the chemicals market, the main attraction is their energy-related business – especially as it relates to their Fischer-Tropsch technology for converting coal or gas to liquids.
